Celebrate 175 Years with Sam Houston Presentation
As the celebration of Georgetown's 175th birthday continues, Preservation Georgetown announces a "Stories of Sam" presentation on Wednesday, September 27, at 6:30 pm at Grace Heritage Center. Grace Heritage Center is located at 817. S. Main Street in Georgetown. The presentation, offered by Sam Houston Memorial Museum Director Derrick Birdsall, will focus on Sam Houston and his ties to Georgetown. This is the first of three fall presentations highlighting the 175th anniversary of the founding of the city and Williamson County.
Free and open to the public, refreshments will be served at the event. Doors open at 6 pm.
Derrick Birdsall is the director of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum & Republic of Texas Presidential Library. He has a MA in history and BS in education and has been working in the museum world for nearly 30 years. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors for Preservation Texas.
