Home Tour
Preservation Georgetown debuted the Home Tour in the 1970's. This event showcases our city's storied architectural history while promoting our diverse cultural heritage and preservation of our most historic places. This treasured event is Preservation Georgetown's most important fundraiser of the year with proceeds benefitting the Preservation Fund and educational events held throughout the year.

What to expect, and what not to expect!
This tour features a variety of homes representative of the rich architectural heritage of Georgetown. What you will see are how historic homes have preserved their exterior look and character while being updated on the interior to accommodate today’s domestic lives and tastes. Some have modern adaptations; others are more reflective of yesteryear.
This is not a Christmas tour, so do not expect homes to be excessively decorated. The “over the top” Christmas decoration phenonium is really an outgrowth of the 1960s and 70s, when new homes had plenty of electrical capacity and manufacturers started to make every type and sort of Christmas decoration.
These homes are where people live and work today, so the following rules are in place:
-
Be respectful at all times of other guests, docents, and PG staff.
-
There will be a docent in every room of the house. They are there to point out highlights of the room/house. They are not historians nor architects.
-
No tobacco or vaping of any type on the grounds or inside the homes.
-
No photographs allowed inside the homes.
-
Some areas may be marked as “off-limits”. That means don’t go there.
-
Restrooms are off-limits.
-
No strollers inside the homes.
-
Children must be either carried or hold hands with parents/guardians. No running around!
-
Depending on the weather and wishes of the homeowner, booties may be required, which are provided by Preservation Georgetown.
-
Homes may have stairs, uneven floors, and other components that could present a challenge. Be careful and don’t hesitate to ask for help if needed.
-
Homes will not open early nor remain open past the end time.
